The Materials

Every material we use, what it is, and how it behaves over time. If a piece does not say otherwise, it is made from the leathers below.

Full-grain leather

The top layer of the hide with nothing sanded away, so the grain and markings stay. It is the only leather that ages into a patina instead of wearing through.

Hair-on hide

Real hide with the hair left on, carrying the animal's own pattern. No two panels are alike, so no two bags are.

Painted hide

Real hide with the pattern applied by hand, in colours a natural hide never comes in. The paint is worked into the leather so it holds rather than peels.

Sparkled hide

Hide finished with a metallic shimmer that shifts in the light. Every panel takes the finish differently.

Recycled leather

Offcuts from the workshop floor, sorted by colour and stitched back into a single panel. Nothing is wasted, and the colour arrangement cannot be repeated.

Croc texture leather

Leather embossed with a crocodile grain. Texture rather than exotic skin.

Canvas

Used with leather trim where a bag needs to stay light.

Hardware

Solid brass fittings, buckles and locks. Brass darkens with handling into an antique tone; polish it if you prefer it bright.
